Age Concern City of London – going further than ever before

By | February 14, 2018

Christmas 2017 saw us enjoying three wonderful events attended by well over 100 people: the first a Christmas party courtesy of our friends at Amazon Audible. The record attendance, superb goody bags and general bonhomie made it a real day to remember.

Following this, a group of 16 of us were lucky enough to enjoy a fascinating back-stage tour of the Royal Opera House. The Nutcracker was in rep and it was snowing outside – a real blizzard in fact – so we all felt thoroughly Christmassy.

To top it all off, on 22nd December we held a very special free screening of the classic film Scrooge, in collaboration with Barbican Cinema. More than 70 City residents came along to spend a festive couple of hours with us and get into the spirit of Christmas present.

All of this rounds off a fantastic year of trips and events, the highlight of which for many people was our coach trip to Maldon. This was the first time we had ventured out of London, and it was well worth the culture shock. This picturesque chocolate-box town on the Blackwater estuary was a winner all round with stunning coastal walks, superior pub grub and lovely sunshine to boot. We will certainly be repeating it.
